Gta san andreas oyunun oncesınde Jahnson ailesinde Brian diye bir kişi vardı ama oyunun eski çete savaşlarında ölmüştür ve hepsinin suçu CJ'e aittir Brianın ölmesine yol açan Carl olmuştur ve Carl bu olaya Lıberty şehrine kaçmıştır ve orda 5 yıl kalmıştır.
